Hoploscaphites nebrascensis.
This is Hoploscaphites nebrascensis, an ammonite from South Dakota, USA. Two individuals are preserved nestled together, and one shows beautiful suture lines.
There are also tubercles on the side. I like the balance between the luster of the outer shell and the suture lines where the shell has peeled away.
Purchased at the 30th Tokyo International Mineral Fair held in June 2017.
The key points for purchase were that two individuals were nestled together, and one showed beautiful white suture lines against a black background.
